Xbox reading problem

alrite folks thought id ustart the new section off

ive got an xbox thats not reading games right
it either says game not recognised screen at start
or there is a problem with the disc you are using halfway through the game

anyone know what the problem is ?

or where or how i would go about fixing it?

sounds like either the laser needs cleaning or faulty if the discs are clean.

I had the same problem with my xbox. I took the dvd apart and gave the laser a good clean. It works again but still plays up occasionaly. Depending on what brand of drive you have a new laser can be picked up from ebay from a tenner.

sounds like you have the philips drive try get yourself a sansung drive much better but clean the dvd lazer first ??is this on orginal games ?? and how old is the xbox ?

ive tried using a dvd laser cleaner
almost 100% sure its a v1.0
and its a thomson drive
it acts up on originals and backups
cds and dvds


where can i get a cheep samsung drive scouse?

ok think got problem solved opened up xbox and clesaned laser with some meths and a fluffy cloth now it works a treat

errors while reading the disc can also be put down to bad media or burning the disc too fast!
I have media that is 8x but if i record quicker than 4x it gives me grief :-(

Also have a v1.0 here and never had problems with the laser
